The vision is to create and provide quality custom, homemade desserts with a Southern flair. To invoke warm memories of nostalgia and family gatherings through sweet confections.
Each customer is the reason for Archie Mae’s Sweet Treats’ existence. Love is the driving force behind every dessert. Spreading love and joy through sweet treats is the ultimate goal and mission of Archie Mae’s Sweet Treats.
Why I’m Doing This
My mother, Archie Mae was a lover of people. She knew food, especially desserts, had the power to bring families together, set the stage to mend relationships, bring joy, and show love. At any time, she had over 100 lbs of sugar in her pantry just in case she had to whip up a cake or pie. Her desserts were legendary in Washington DC and western Massachusetts church circles.

My Story
I grew up watching Archie Mae cook, humming hymns as she stirred puddings, or praying while she added cake ingredients together. She taught me that love was the most important ingredient. She said it is sweeter than sugar and honey and there could never be too much love in anything that comes from the kitchen.
It always seemed like the cakes were more moist or more flavorful somehow. It was like her ice cream was the smoothest, most decadent frozen treat imaginable. It looked to me that it was just stuff she mixed together, but eating her desserts were like having an out-of-body experience.
She eventually told me about the love aspect. She loved what she did as well as the people she did it for. It wasn’t long after that when it hit me. I experimented with raspberry tarts and the looks on my family’s faces hooked me. I finally understood what Mama meant. If you don’t absolutely love, don’t halfway do anything. That’s why I do this. I love to bake and I love every customer I bake for.

Just a Hobby
Archie Mae’s Sweet Treats started as a hobby. The real Archie Mae loved to bake and often used these skills for church fundraisers. Everything from Japanese cakes to banana puddings to frozen custard came out of her kitchen and folks from all around would buy up everything she made
